AI Usage Lecture & Workshop

Within the first year of my PhD research, I volunteered to give a lecture and a workshop on the use of Artificial Intelligence in solving the adaptive reuse task in the architectural design process. This was part of the Master of Architecture Project in the City 2026 course. Unlike the off-scratch projects, adaptive reuse imposes constraints on the design development due to the necessity to partially or fully preserve the building structure and fabric. The workshop structure was developed based on the Markus & Maver diagram of design method and semantic prompt building and required the use of Chaos Veras with the highly elaborated CAD model. To increase the level of agency and design critique, the students were encouraged to use Veras version 6, powered by Stable Diffusion, and assemble all their generations into a final collage. This article will demonstrate the case study which I developed before the workshop to test and demonstrate the workshop structure.
